CAN RESILIENCE REALLY GET YOU THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES?

The year 2020 was one of the most difficult years for most people. The outbreak of the pandemic really affected and changed our lives drastically. I’m sure a lot of people were trying to avoid it by taking all regular measures seriously but I guess we just have to cope with it and maintain a high standard of hygiene in order not to be affected by the deadly diseases. Well, some of us have been able to manage, survive and thrive through these difficult times.

Challenges are one of the events we have to face in life which will either make or unmake us, depending on how it’s being handled. It takes resilience to emotionally and mentally overcome it quickly . Some people are able to manage and recover quickly from crises whilst others are not. Yet, other people get to worship their challenges and prefer to announce it to the world sharing their grievances just to gain attention/ self pity.

Keep in mind that when life gives you lemons, make a lemonade from it. Difficulties in life are bound to happen because it leaves significant scars which you have to turn them into something positive and desirable.

During the outbreak of the pandemic lives were lost, most people working in the private sectors lost their jobs, businesses collapsed and many people lost their loved ones but you know, life still goes on. This must be one of toughest periods in life which is a major obstacle. People were depressed, frustrated and faced emotional and physical hardship. But in the midst of all this chaos, some people were able to persevere and be resilient. Thanks to the outbreak of the pandemic, citizens learn how to be hygienic the hard way in order to keep healthy, safe and avoid being a victim of covid. For businesses that collapsed during the outbreak of the pandemic, they were able to manage and control the crisis they faced, learn their lessons from it and adopt new measures in order to be proactive when they face any similar problem in the future.

To build resilience through difficult times, you have to be psychologically strengthened to cope, manage and overcome adversities quickly. You also have to embrace the situation, keep calm and learn how to deal with it. You can only achieve this when you build positive, strong and supportive relationships, handle the situation in a positive way and give it time to think through on how to manage and control it rather than making any hasty decisions. This applies to all challenges in life.

Adapting resilience is a process hence it allows you to make courageous choices and thrive through difficult times.
